                       Osmium and Iridium Armor

 

 

 

 

         A Summary of Properties and Smithing Requirements.

Two new Metals, Osmium and Iridium, can be found and smithed, (combined with either Troll Leather or Mythril) into any of twenty different armor pieces.  The special armor blocks some of your opponent's critical strikes, converting them into normal strikes.  Critical strike reduction is not currently indicated in the Affects list.

 

The weight and AR of the armor is the same as armor smithed without the new metals (except mythril cowls which are 80 AR clean compared to the standard 50 AR).  Osmium Armor has a lower level requirement, but blocks fewer critical strikes than Iridium Armor.

 

Osmium armor requires level 200 to equip, Iridium requires level 650.  Osmium smiths Purple, while Iridium smiths in Amber color.

 

 

--- Smithing Requirements ---

 

The Troll Leather and Mythril block portion of the requirements are the same as mundane armor.  The Mythril versions require one exotic block per Mythril block used.  The Troll Leather versions generally require one fewer exotic blocks than Troll Leather bolts.  All are level 5 smithing.  Initial repair cost is higher with less skill.

 

 

-- Initial Effectiveness Observations ---

 

The effectivness of Osmium and Iridium armor seems to be related to the position of the armor worn compared to the type and height of the opponent's attack, just as wear on armor is related to the type of attack.  For example, Slimes and Ratlings usually strike the Greaves and Boots, while Knights and Dragons usually strike the Plate, cowl, bracers, and helm.  If the area struck has armor with critical strike resistance, there is a chance that it will be reduced to a normal strike.  Chances are greater with Iridium Armor.

 

 

--- Store prices ---

 

The store price of the special Mythril Armor items are 3.5 times higher than the store price of mundane Mythril items, except for Mythril helms, which are 7 times higher than mundane store price.

 

The formula for Mythril is:  [mundane item price * 3.5] = special item price.  If the item is a helm, the price is doubled.

 

Store prices of special Troll Armor are irregular, or erroneous.  The general formula is: [(mundane price * x) - y] = exotic price.

 

Formula for the shirts appears to be      [(106 * 60) - 4] = 6356

Formula for the pants appears to be      [(85 * 75) - 40] = 6335

Formula for cowl & boots appears to be           [(42 * 40) - 75] = 1605

                                                or         [(42 * 39) - 33] = 1605
